Air filters are the first step to tuning any engine. The principle is simple, the more air you get in the engine, the more power you get out. Ok, so there is obviously more to it than that, but bolting on an induction kit can increase your cars power from 1-2bhp, up to 15bhp (rolling road proven!!) With modern ECU's you don't have to re-map or tune the engine, just bolt the kit on! Even a replacement element alone can add a couple of horses, and you never have to replace it, so they quickly pay for themselves. For the maximum power, you can go for a K&N typhoon kit, or an enclosed intake system like the BMC CDA kits maximising cold air intake.

Performance exhausts are a great way to improve the power, and sound of your car! Even with just a sports exhaust back box, your car can sound like it means business and have a noticeable improvement in power. For the maximum power increase though, a full exhaust system is the way forward. Sports cat, or de-cat pipe (not road legal) and tubular manifold give further power gains. Free flowing exhausts get the gases out of the engine quicker, and help improve power and acceleration, especially at higher revs.

Black diamond produce three types of performance brake disc each with their own advantages.
Black Diamond Drilled Brake Discs.
Drilled brake discs are designed to improve cooling under braking. The hotter the brakes the more likely they are to suffer from an effect called "brake fade". Fade reduces the stopping power of the brakes and is common under heavy or frequent braking or when braking from high speeds. Drilled discs help the brakes to cool under braking reducing the effect of fade and improving braking performance and stopping distance.
Black Diamond Grooved Brake Discs.
Grooved brake discs, or slotted brake discs as they are sometimes known, have grooves cut out from the face of the disc from the centre towards the outside edge. The number and design of these grooves varies depending on the brand of brake disc. These slots help vent particles and gas build up from under the pad and ensure better pad to disc contact under heavy braking, a process known as deglazing. By keeping the pads and disc face free of the dust and gas which is created under braking, fade is reducing and the vehicle stopping distances can be improved. The potential downside of heavily grooved discs in that they can reduce the life span of the brake pads.
Black Diamond Combi Brake Discs
As the name suggests, the black diamond combi discs are a combination of drilled and grooved. They are both drilled for extra cooling, and have grooves cut into them to deglaze the pads. The Combi discs are in my experience the most popular discs in the range and give impressing braking performance over the OEM brake setup, especially when fitted with the superb Black Diamond Predator brake pads.
