Air filters are the first step to tuning any engine. The principle is simple, the more air you get in the engine, the more power you get out. Ok, so there is obviously more to it than that, but bolting on an induction kit can increase your cars power from 1-2bhp, up to 15bhp (rolling road proven!!) With modern ECU's you don't have to re-map or tune the engine, just bolt the kit on! Even a replacement element alone can add a couple of horses, and you never have to replace it, so they quickly pay for themselves. For the maximum power, you can go for a K&N typhoon kit, or an enclosed intake system like the BMC CDA kits maximising cold air intake.

Performance exhausts are a great way to improve the power, and sound of your car! Free flowing exhausts get the gases out of the engine quicker, and help improve power and acceleration, especially at higher revs.

As the name suggests, the K&N Generation 2 induction kits, are the next stage on from the 57i kits. The Gen 2 kits include more parts, pipework / heat shields etc to further increase the ammount of cold air that the filter can intake, and this gives impressive power increases - rolling road proven to give over 10bhp on some vehicles! They are more expensive that the 57i kits, and many of the other lower cost counter parts, but if your budget will stretch to the Gen II you wont be disappointed. The old saying is true - you get what you pay for.
