Air filters are the first step to tuning any engine. The principle is simple, the more air you get in the engine, the more power you get out. Ok, so there is obviously more to it than that, but bolting on an induction kit can increase your cars power from 1-2bhp, up to 15bhp (rolling road proven!!) With modern ECU's you don't have to re-map or tune the engine, just bolt the kit on! Even a replacement element alone can add a couple of horses, and you never have to replace it, so they quickly pay for themselves. For the maximum power, you can go for a K&N typhoon kit, or an enclosed intake system like the BMC CDA kits maximising cold air intake.

Performance exhausts are a great way to improve the power, and sound of your car! Even with just a sports exhaust back box, your car can sound like it means business and have a noticeable improvement in power. For the maximum power increase though, a full exhaust system is the way forward. Sports cat, or de-cat pipe (not road legal) and tubular manifold give further power gains. Free flowing exhausts get the gases out of the engine quicker, and help improve power and acceleration, especially at higher revs.

TTRS (5 cylinder Engine) INTERCOOLER FOR MK2 TT RS (5 cylinder)
This intercooler for the TTRS is a triumph of engineering; allowing much more surface area and cooling efficiency than the stock core, whilst requiring NO cutting of the bumper at all.
Forge's core uses up all the space the Audi had failed to take advantage of. The core measures a massive 560x150x150mm (22x6x6?) and is of bar and plate design. The end tanks are designed such that the standard boost hoses can be retained, along with the standard fittings from the stock core. Total fitting time is only around 3 hours if you take your time, and can be fitted on a driveway if necessary.
We have seen excellent results on both standard cars and those which have been remapped. On a typical standard car Forge see gains of 15bhp and 15lb/ft of torque in back to back testing. On remapped cars, this goes up to an average of 20bhp and 15lb/ft, again in back to back testing. Remember that you could then get your map tailored to suit your new intercooler so the gains could be even more impressive ! Temperature drops are in the order of 20 deg C at the intercooler outlet, and the inlet temperature drops too compared to the stock core, indicating that the turbo does not have to work as hard, despite the fact the engine now makes more power.
