Air filters are the first step to tuning any engine. The principle is simple, the more air you get in the engine, the more power you get out. Ok, so there is obviously more to it than that, but bolting on an induction kit can increase your cars power from 1-2bhp, up to 15bhp (rolling road proven!!) With modern ECU's you don't have to re-map or tune the engine, just bolt the kit on! Even a replacement element alone can add a couple of horses, and you never have to replace it, so they quickly pay for themselves. For the maximum power, you can go for a K&N typhoon kit, or an enclosed intake system like the BMC CDA kits maximising cold air intake.

Performance exhausts are a great way to improve the power, and sound of your car! Even with just a sports exhaust back box, your car can sound like it means business and have a noticeable improvement in power. For the maximum power increase though, a full exhaust system is the way forward. Sports cat, or de-cat pipe (not road legal) and tubular manifold give further power gains. Free flowing exhausts get the gases out of the engine quicker, and help improve power and acceleration, especially at higher revs.
Upgrading your brakes is vital if you have increased your cars power! It is all very well accelerating like an Aston Martin, but if you stop like a shopping trolley, you are going to be in trouble. I asked for advice with regard to a suspension kit for my VW Bora 1.8T, the salesman I spoke to on the phone sounded honest and straight forward about the products that you sell, also gave me the time I required to chew over the info with no pressure. I had been in the motor trade for about 30 years and have done a lot of modifications on cars but I wanted the best latest unbiased opinion about which kits are available now, I obviously had my own initial thoughts on what kit I wanted, and the ride quality that I was after, and after about 20mins of discussion with your salesman he helped me make an informed compromise decision on quality and performance which I am now very pleased with after fitting and using for a while to acclimatise myself with the different characteristics of the handling and ride quality. I opted for the Koni sport 40mm kit (adjustable Shocks) with the standard diameter style springs as opposed to the small diameter "coil-over" type, I felt that a couple of the other well respected companies that I had spoken about a suspension kit treated me as a complete novice and just wanted me to buy coil-overs because thats what "every body is fitting these days". You didn't have the kit in stock at that time so the salesman said if I was interested he could phone Koni direct and see if they had them in stock, 5 minutes later he phoned me back and said he could get them sent direct from Koni for the next day delivery.
