Air filters are the first step to tuning any engine. The principle is simple, the more air you get in the engine, the more power you get out. Ok, so there is obviously more to it than that, but bolting on an induction kit can increase your cars power from 1-2bhp, up to 15bhp (rolling road proven!!) With modern ECU's you don't have to re-map or tune the engine, just bolt the kit on! Even a replacement element alone can add a couple of horses, and you never have to replace it, so they quickly pay for themselves. For the maximum power, you can go for a K&N typhoon kit, or an enclosed intake system like the BMC CDA kits maximising cold air intake.

Performance exhausts are a great way to improve the power, and sound of your car! Even with just a sports exhaust back box, your car can sound like it means business and have a noticeable improvement in power. For the maximum power increase though, a full exhaust system is the way forward. Sports cat, or de-cat pipe (not road legal) and tubular manifold give further power gains. Free flowing exhausts get the gases out of the engine quicker, and help improve power and acceleration, especially at higher revs.
Upgrading your brakes is vital if you have increased your cars power! It is all very well accelerating like an Aston Martin, but if you stop like a shopping trolley, you are going to be in trouble. I found the Black Diamond discs on eBay while searching for alternatives to the Triumph discs on my 1990 Caterham 7. The most competitive total package price including shipping was from DC Performance which is why I chose to call them. The phone was answered promptly and I placed the order with a very helpful girl who questioned why I wanted four discs that were listed on the website as Front. My car uses the same discs all round but it was the right thing to ask about. I then received an email about the same thing that needed clarifying before the order got processed which could have saved their time if I had made a mistake. The discs were quickly sent by courier and certainly look more 2017 than 1970s with the grooves, dimples and phosphate coating. The car is in the process of a major rebuild and won be back on the road until July so I won know until then how well they work, but its got to be better than what theyve replaced Im more than happy with the part that DC Performance played and I will certainly check their website if I think they can supply anything else I need. Had to wait a while for delivery which was from Germany. This was not a real problem as not in a hurry to fit. The only real gripe was the lack of info to me what was happening. Although the guys on the phone were ok, there were no emails or calls updating me to let me know the progress. Saying this the fronts have been fitted and what a transformation - Awesome!, drives like new on the front end and sits just right now, fingers crossed the rears are just as good.
