Air filters are the first step to tuning any engine. The principle is simple, the more air you get in the engine, the more power you get out. Ok, so there is obviously more to it than that, but bolting on an induction kit can increase your cars power from 1-2bhp, up to 15bhp (rolling road proven!!) With modern ECU's you don't have to re-map or tune the engine, just bolt the kit on! Even a replacement element alone can add a couple of horses, and you never have to replace it, so they quickly pay for themselves. For the maximum power, you can go for a K&N typhoon kit, or an enclosed intake system like the BMC CDA kits maximising cold air intake.

Performance exhausts are a great way to improve the power, and sound of your car! Even with just a sports exhaust back box, your car can sound like it means business and have a noticeable improvement in power. For the maximum power increase though, a full exhaust system is the way forward. Sports cat, or de-cat pipe (not road legal) and tubular manifold give further power gains. Free flowing exhausts get the gases out of the engine quicker, and help improve power and acceleration, especially at higher revs.
Upgrading your brakes is vital if you have increased your cars power! It is all very well accelerating like an Aston Martin, but if you stop like a shopping trolley, you are going to be in trouble. Excellent service , price wise and prompt delivery . One small issue on the 159 2.4ti front discs , Delphi as I remember on the box , was that the location grub screw would not sit flush with the hubface , so the wheel would have been 2mms out of flush if bolted up . I ought to have had them slightly oversized drilled out 2mms deep , then the grub screw would have sat flush and the disc still be held tight to the hub . I couldn do that as hadn the right \ drill bit \ to use , so had to grind down the edges around the grub screw head to fit flush --- obviously this located the disc but not tight to the hub but once the wheel was bolted on , not a problem . The grubscrew is just there to hold the disc while the calliper and wheel is bolted on. Just needs the grubscrew hole drilled out 2mms wider 2mms deep"
